How long does backsplash installation take?
Most kitchen backsplashes are completed in one to a few days, depending on size, tile type and pattern. Mosaic and herringbone layouts take longer than straight subway tile. Grout needs curing time before heavy cleaning, and we will let you know when the area is ready for normal use.
Can you install a backsplash over existing tile?
Sometimes, if the old tile is well bonded and flat, but it adds thickness and can create problems at outlets and cabinet edges. In most cases we recommend removing the old tile and repairing the wall for a cleaner, longer-lasting result.
Should the backsplash go all the way to the ceiling?
It is a design choice. Full-height tile behind a range hood or on walls without upper cabinets can look dramatic. Stopping at the upper cabinets is more common and cost-effective. We can mock up both options so you can see the difference before deciding.
