We dig footings below the frost line so posts do not heave in winter, size beams and joists for the span and load, and attach ledger boards to the house with proper flashing and structural fasteners so water does not rot the rim joist behind it. We pull permits where required and schedule inspections. Then we finish with the decking, railings and stairs you choose, whether that is pressure-treated lumber, cedar or low-maintenance composite, and we walk the finished deck with you.

Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Most attached decks and many elevated decks require a permit in Oregon, Toledo and surrounding Northwest Ohio communities. Requirements vary by jurisdiction. We handle permit applications and drawings where required and schedule inspections so your deck is built to code.
Is composite decking worth the extra cost?
For many homeowners, yes. Composite eliminates annual staining and sealing, resists rot and splinters, and keeps its color. Pressure-treated lumber costs less up front but needs regular maintenance. We can show samples and help you compare long-term upkeep against initial budget.
Can you repair my deck instead of replacing it?
If the framing and footings are sound, replacing boards and railings can give an older deck new life. If joists, posts or the ledger are rotted or the footings are shallow, rebuilding the structure is usually the safer option. We inspect and give you an honest assessment.
How long does it take to build a deck?
