Can a pergola be attached to my house?
Yes. Attached pergolas are secured to the house with a flashed ledger or freestanding posts close to the wall. We make sure the attachment does not create leaks or overload the existing structure. Freestanding pergolas are also an option for patios away from the house.
Do I need a permit for a pergola or pavilion?
Requirements vary by community. Many Oregon, Toledo and Northwest Ohio municipalities require permits for roofed structures, larger pergolas and any electrical or gas work. We check local rules for your address, prepare the drawings and handle permits and inspections where required.
What pergola material requires the least maintenance?
Aluminum and vinyl pergolas require the least maintenance, needing only occasional washing. Cedar looks beautiful but needs periodic staining or sealing. Pressure-treated wood is economical and paintable but also requires upkeep. We help you balance the look you want with the upkeep you are willing to do each season.
