Fiberglass or steel: which entry door is better?
Both are good options. Fiberglass resists dents and will not rust, and it can mimic wood grain convincingly, making it ideal for front entries. Steel offers strong security at a lower price and works well for side and garage entries. Both have insulated cores that outperform old wood doors.
Can you install a larger door or add sidelites?
Often, yes. Widening an opening requires reframing and a properly sized header, and may require a permit. We evaluate the wall structure, handle the framing, and finish the exterior and interior so the new opening looks like it was always there.
How long does a door replacement take?
A standard entry door replacement is typically completed in one day. Patio doors and custom openings may take a bit longer, especially if we find rot at the sill. Your home is secured before we leave each day. Most Oregon and Toledo projects are finished within a day or two.
Why is my current door leaking water at the bottom?
Leaks at the threshold usually come from missing or failed sill pan flashing, a sill that is not properly sloped, or worn door sweeps. Over time the water rots the subfloor. A new door installed with a sill pan and adjustable threshold solves the problem at its source.
