Should I choose vinyl or fiber cement siding?
Vinyl costs less up front and needs almost no maintenance beyond washing. Fiber cement is heavier, more rigid and more resistant to hail and fire, and it holds paint for many years, but it requires more labor to install. We help you compare appearance, budget and long-term upkeep for your home.
Do you remove the old siding first?
In most cases, yes. Removing old siding lets us inspect and repair sheathing, install a proper weather barrier and flash windows correctly. Covering over old material can trap moisture and hide rot. There are occasional situations where going over existing siding is acceptable, and we explain those honestly.
How long does a siding project take?
Most single-family homes in the Oregon and Toledo area are typically completed in one to two weeks, depending on size, material and weather. Fiber cement and homes with lots of trim detail take longer. We give you an expected schedule with your written quote.
Can new siding improve energy efficiency?
Siding itself adds little insulation, but the work around it does. A sealed house wrap cuts air leakage, and insulated vinyl or a foam backer board adds some R-value. Combined with proper window flashing, many Northwest Ohio homeowners notice a less drafty house after re-siding.
