What is tuckpointing and how do I know if I need it?
Tuckpointing is removing deteriorated mortar from joints and replacing it with new mortar. If you can scrape mortar out with a key, the joints look recessed, or you see gaps and cracks, repointing is likely needed. Doing it on time keeps water out and prevents brick damage.
Can you match the color of my existing mortar and brick?
We can usually match closely by testing mortar mixes and sourcing reclaimed or similar brick. Older Toledo homes often have soft, lime-rich mortar, so we match the hardness as well as the color. New work may look slightly fresh at first but weathers in over time.
Why is my chimney leaking?
Chimney leaks usually come from a cracked crown, missing cap, deteriorated mortar joints or failed flashing where the chimney meets the roof. We inspect each area and repair the actual source, which may involve masonry work, new flashing or both.
Are stair-step cracks in brick a serious problem?
