Is luxury vinyl plank really waterproof?
Quality LVP planks themselves are waterproof, which is why they work well in kitchens, baths and basements. Water can still get under the floor at edges or through a subfloor leak, so it is not a substitute for fixing plumbing or foundation issues. Proper perimeter details and quick cleanup of spills keep it performing.
Can LVP go in my basement in Toledo?
In most cases, yes. It is one of the best basement choices in the Toledo area. We check the slab for moisture and flatness first, then choose an underlayment or vapor barrier that fits. If the basement has active leaks or seepage, we recommend addressing waterproofing before the new floor goes in.
How does LVP compare to laminate?
Both give a wood look. LVP is waterproof and quieter underfoot, while traditional laminate has a wood-fiber core that can swell if it stays wet. Some newer laminates have improved water resistance. For kitchens, baths and basements, we usually recommend LVP.
Will LVP look cheap?
Not if you choose a quality product and it is installed well. Better LVP has realistic textures, varied plank patterns and beveled edges. Careful layout, staggered seams and clean trim work also make a big difference in how finished the floor looks.
