Countertop Installation Done Right
Countertops take more abuse than almost any surface in the house, so the material and the installation both matter. The work starts with the cabinets underneath. Stone and quartz require base cabinets that are level and well supported, so we check and correct them before templating. After fabrication, tops are set, seams are joined tight and color-matched, and overhangs get proper support brackets where needed. We coordinate disconnecting and reconnecting the sink, faucet, disposal and cooktop with licensed plumbing and electrical partners, so the kitchen is back in service as quickly as practical.

Countertop Installation Options
Quartz
Engineered stone that is non-porous and does not require sealing. It offers consistent patterns and handles daily kitchen use well, though it should be protected from very hot pans.
Granite
Natural stone with unique veining and strong heat resistance. It benefits from periodic sealing to resist staining.
Laminate
A budget-friendly surface with many modern patterns and edge profiles. It is well suited to rentals, laundry rooms and cost-conscious remodels.
Butcher block
Warm wood surfaces that work well on islands and baking stations. They need regular oiling and are not ideal right around the sink.
Why It Matters Here
Many Northwest Ohio kitchens still have original laminate or tiled countertops, especially in postwar homes around Toledo, Oregon and Rossford. Over years, water at the sink edge swells the particleboard beneath. Older base cabinets also tend to be out of level because of settling on the region's clay soils, and heavy stone can crack if it is set on an uneven base. We check and correct the cabinets first. For lake cottages near Port Clinton and Marblehead, we often recommend quartz or laminate for easy seasonal upkeep.

How long does countertop installation take?
For stone and quartz, templating happens after cabinets are set, then fabrication typically takes a period before installation day. Installation itself is often completed in a single day. Laminate and butcher block can move faster. We will explain the full timeline with your quote so you can plan meals around it.
Quartz or granite: which is better for a busy kitchen?
Both are durable. Quartz is non-porous and does not need sealing, which many families appreciate. Granite handles direct heat better and offers one-of-a-kind patterns but should be sealed periodically. The right choice depends on your cooking habits and how much maintenance you want.
Can new countertops go on my existing cabinets?
Often, yes. If your cabinets are solid and can be leveled, new countertops are a great upgrade on their own. Stone is heavy, so we inspect the cabinet boxes and add support where necessary. If the cabinets are failing, it makes more sense to replace them first.
